Daily challenge
Eight lines at a speed you did not choose, the same for everyone, once a day. One attempt — retrying until it went well would make the score meaningless.
LOADING TODAY
How is it the same for everyone?
The date is the seed. Every browser runs the same generator over the same UTC date and gets the same eight lines, the same speed and the same pass mark — so nothing has to be fetched, the challenge works offline, and there is no server that can go down or start charging.
Why UTC and not my day?
Your practice streak uses your local day, deliberately — going to bed late should not cost you Tuesday. A shared challenge is a different question: it only works if today means the same thing in Istanbul and in Los Angeles. So the streak is yours and the challenge is everyone’s.
I missed the bar. Now what?
Nothing is lost — the streak counts attempts, not passes, because showing up is the only thing a streak is any good at encouraging. If the speed is the problem, set your own incopy practice and work up to it.
